I can understand that people who don't know any of the parties involved would go for the cheaper price, all else being equal. Very few will pay a higher price out of principle (I will, and you will, and many here, but overall few). However, when all else is not equal, I'd think that it would at least raise a flag and make people reconsider. I'd also think that seeing how he conducts himself in front of existing and potential customers and witnessing first-hand his complete lack of technical justification for anything he says would scare people away. Being an engineer makes his "accreditation" claims all the more comical.
